Ozone Park is a mainly residential neighborhood in Queens, located near John F. Kennedy Airport. The area has gained notoriety as a center of Mafia activities. Mafia families and mob associates owned several businesses in the neighborhood. A famous mobster who operated in Ozone Park was John Gotti; he was the boss of one of the five Italian American Mafia crime families, which are still active in New York City. Besides his criminal activities, John Gotti also organized block parties and he had a reputation for keeping street crime out. John Gotti was sent to jail several times, but in 1992 he was sentenced to life imprisonment and 10 years later he died in prison.
