Downtown Brooklyn is the third largest central business district in New York City, following Midtown Manhattan and Lower Manhattan. The Brooklyn Bridge directly connects the area with the Financial District in Manhattan. There are numerous high-rise buildings which give the area its own unique skyline. Downtown is a vital, lively hub of the borough, where commercial, government, and financial interests converge. The area includes Brooklyn Borough Hall, Kings County Courthouse, MetroTech Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the New York Transit Museum. Fulton Mall is a pedestrian street mall that is home to over 230 stores. This shopping strip offers many discount-clothing shops, but it also includes famous retailers.
