Also known as Spanish Harlem or El Barrio, East Harlem is one of the biggest Latino communities in New York City. The streets of East Harlem offer a feeling of Latin America: shops playing Latin music, Puerto Rican flags waving from cars, men playing dominoes and people hanging out on stoops, shouting to their neighbor in Spanglish. Spanish Harlem is also notable for its contributions to Salsa music.
